Terms & Conditions

TeachingChile LLC Terms and Conditions
By submitting an application all applicants are agreeing to the following terms and conditions as set forth below:
  1. "Teaching Institution" can include any one of the following: a school with students ranging from grades kindergarten through 12 or a Chilean not-for-profit organization that provides short-term work assignments to foreign volunteers.
  2. Applicant agrees that the information she/he provides on any application is true and to the best of their knowledge accurate.  Applicant also understands that any false or misleading information may be grounds for dismissal from the TeachingChile program.
  3. Applicant agrees to provide proof of medical insurance coverage, paid for by applicant, by email prior to arrival into Chile.

    In case of medical care, be it emergency or non-emergency:

    1. TeachingChile, LLC as a company, its founder, employees, and/or contracted consultants cannot and will not be able to sign documents for any teacher/participant representing them, and will not be responsible for costs for any of the following:
      • Admittance/clearance into any Chilean Hospital or Medical Clinic,
      • Vouch for insurance coverage paid for and pre-arranged by teacher/participant,
      • Make decisions on teacher/participant behalf regarding medical care as recommended by doctors or staff,
      • Pay for transport from place of injury (by air or ground) to location(s) of care,
    2. Teacher/participant agrees:
      • To carry at all times their insurance coverage card with provider and policy number, Chilean identification (RUN/RUT number) and/or photocopy of passport
  4. TeachingChile may refuse any applicant who does not meet the program eligibility requirements or any applicant that is not deemed appropriate for the TeachingChile program.  Application processing fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  5. All placement decisions are made by the Teaching Institution.  TeachingChile does not have the ability to make or influence placement decisions.  The applicant must be prepared to accept the placement offered by the Teaching Institution.  TeachingChile is happy to pass along specific placement requests to the Teaching Institution; however, TeachingChile cannot guarantee that any request or preference will be met.
  6. Applicant and participants agrees to pay TeachingChile all fees in full before departure, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Application Process and Placement Process.  All application fees and placement fees are nonrefundable and will not be refunded for any reason.  Furthermore, TeachingChile shall not be responsible for refunding any fees paid to the Chilean Government under any circumstance as a result of participation in the program.
  7. Attendance at an in-country orientation and training is mandatory for all participants. Failure to attend is grounds for dismissal from the program.
  8. If a participant does not complete the term of their contract with the Teaching Institution, for any reason, TeachingChile is not obligated to refund any part of the participant's fees.
  9. TeachingChile is not providing any travel arrangements for the participant.  All travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the participant.
  10. TeachingChile reserves the right to dismiss from the program any participant who is deemed by TeachingChile or the Teaching Institution, to be a danger to themselves or others or whose conduct is deemed to be detrimental to the program or the rules of the Teaching Institution.  If the event of such dismissal, TeachingChile shall not be responsible for any travel expense, airfare, charges, or any other expenses incurred by the participant as a result of any such dismissal.
  11. The participant shall be responsible for and held liable for all of his or her acts along with any loss or damage that results from those acts while he or she is in the program.  Participant agrees to indemnify any person who suffers loss or damage as a result of the actions of the participant.  Such claim for indemnification shall cover any and all reasonable claims, causes of action, judgments, losses, costs or expenses which may be made as a result of or relating to any acts of the participant.
  12. Participant must consider his or her personal health and safety needs when applying for placement with the TeachingChile program.  Any special accommodations necessary must be disclosed on the application and TeachingChile in its sole discretion shall determine if the applicant suffers from any health or other condition that would create a risk for them while abroad or while in the program.
  13. The participant must supply TeachingChile with the name and contact details of next of kin, to be contacted in the case of emergency
  14. The participant is responsible for understanding and following all materials made available regarding safety, health, legal, environmental, political, cultural and religious customs and conditions in Chile. The participant must also be aware of local conditions that may present health or safety risks when making daily choices and decisions.  Each participant shall be fully responsible for any laws, regulations, or customs that are broken, regardless of foreknowledge.
  15. Participants are fully responsible and liable for their criminal acts.
  16. Participation in the program shall be from the orientation in Santiago until the last day of a participant's Study and Work assignment.
  17. Working and living conditions in Chile are likely to be very different from those experienced in the participant's home country.
  18. All travel in Chile before, during, and after the program is at the participant's own risk.  Participant's who wish to operate motorized vehicles must at their own cost and risk obtain the necessary license, permission and insurance.
  19. While TeachingChile will always endeavor to fulfill its responsibilities, TeachingChile cannot accept liability or responsibility for any alternations, delay or cancellation caused by threat of war, fire, sickness, bad weather, acts of government or public authority or other circumstances amounting to a "force majeure."
  20. TeachingChile makes no representation or warranty of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the suitability of the program for any participant.  TeachingChile disclaims all such warranties to the full extent permitted by law.
  21. Participant is solely responsible for obtaining approval or permission from the Chilean Government to enter the country.  TeachingChile shall not be responsible for fees and costs related to such approval or permission
All applicants must sign the application form to confirm acceptance of the terms and conditions set out above.

Special Notes

  • Teaching Positions to University Students

    Starting end of February 2020: We are currently accepting applications. Ten-month (two semester) commitment required. TEFL/TESOL certification required, but not at time of application. We will be accepting applications for the next year starting end of February 2020 on December 16, 2019.

  • Teaching Positions to Adult Learner Students

    Starting throughout the year 2020: We are currently accepting applications. Ten- or 12-month commitment required. TEFL/TESOL certification required,but not at time of application. The next round of applications received will be submitted to Teaching Institutions for review on or after December 16, 2019.

  • Co-Teaching Positions to Kindergarten through 12th Grade Students

    Starting end of February 2020: We are currently accepting applications. TEFL/TESOL certification required, but not at time of application. The next round of applications received will be submitted approximately December 16, 2019.
